5. Procedures Following the Accidental Ingestion of Radioactivity

  1. Immediately notify the RSO.
  2. Vomiting should be induced immediately unless the chemical nature of the ingested radioactive material would make such action hazardous (e.g., volatile material). The emesis (i.e., vomit) should be collected for counting purposes.
  3. Drink large quantities of water to dilute the radioactive material (unless the chemical nature of the ingested radioactive material would make this action hazardous).
