2. General Considerations for Radiation Emergencies

Due to the numerous complicating factors and the wide variety of hazards which may arise in emergency situations, set emergency procedures cannot be made to cover all possible scenarios. The primary consideration in any emergency should be the protection of human life and health and the confinement of contamination to the local area of the accident.
