In the event of injury to personnel involving radiation hazards, the following actions must be taken:

• Important - The needs of injured persons have the highest priority. Any necessary medical attention should be given immediately.
• Wash minor wounds immediately under running water while spreading apart the edges of the wound.
• Individuals providing initial care (e.g., paramedics) should wear disposable gloves.
• Report all radiation accidents (wounds, ingestions, and inhalations) to the RSO via telephone.
• Prepare and submit, within 14 days, a written report of the accident, actions taken, and what measures will be taken to prevent a recurrence.
• No individuals involved in a radiation accident may return to work without the approval of the RSO and the attending physician (if applicable).
